Colleague Profile – Stephanie McWha
I am a Canadian expat who is passionate about supporting people navigating life across cultures. Over the past 9 years, I have lived in Belgium and now the Netherlands, and have experienced first-hand the complexities of living, working, and raising children abroad.
I hold a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and am registered with the Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen (NIP) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
My work is inspired by a curiosity in human relationships and the patterns that we form within them. I believe that when we understand how we relate to others, we can begin to create healthier, more connected ways of being. In addition to Psychology, I have an academic background in Cultural Geography, where I gained a particular interest in understanding how place, space, and identity shape who we are and how we relate to the world around us. This perspective greatly influences my work, especially when working with expats and intercultural couples.
I work from an Integrative Interactional and Person-Centered approach to psychotherapy and believe that people thrive when they are met with empathy, openness, and genuine acceptance.
